Josh Stein is the Jew-Haters’ Choice for North Carolina

The cowardly Democrat running for Governor puts left-wing politics above condemning terrorism

One of the saddest facts about politics is that so many American Jews put leftist politics above human life—even if that means defending terrorists who slaughter unarmed women and behead children.

For Hamas terrorists’ defender-in-chief in North Carolina, look no further than Attorney General and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein, who’s used his office to demand major concessions for radical Islamic murderers in the wake of their Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

“We have got to get to a place where there’s a two-state solution,” he said in December. “We cannot live in this limbo for decades more without the Palestinians’ legitimate interests being vindicated somehow, and I believe they do deserve their own independent nation.”

In fact, Palestinians do have their own independent state and voted overwhelmingly to let Hamas establish a genocidal dictatorship there. Critically, this terrorist organization refuses any “solution” that does not give it total control of Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, sneering at peace proposals as “a waste of time, and vain endeavors.” From Hamas’ 1988 charter:

There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad.

While Israel has made its share of mistakes, it is hardly the imperialist “apartheid” country that American leftists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claim. In contrast, the entire idea of a “Palestinian people” was fabricated in the late 1960’s by Arab nationalist Yasser Arafat with aid from the Soviet Union’s KGB:

‘Imperial-Zionism’ was a Moscow invention, a modern adaptation of the ‘Protocols of the Elders of Zion,’ and long a favorite tool of Russian intelligence to foment ethnic hatred. The KGB always regarded antisemitism plus anti-imperialism as a rich source of anti-Americanism.

The Anti-Semites’ Candidate of Choice

Recall that days after the Oct. 7 attack, Stein’s fellow Democrats in the North Carolina General Assembly chose to walk out rather than vote for a resolution calling on Congress to support Israel “financially and otherwise for as long as it takes for Israel to bring justice in light of the unprovoked attacks on innocent Israeli civilians.”

Stein is endorsed by every one of these 12 Democrats. His reaction? Crickets.

Lest you think that was a one-off, in December 3 Democrats refused to sign a letter condemning Hamas terrorism because they thought it was too nuanced. Each one has endorsed Stein.

Then there’s Durham’s radical mayor and vocal Stein supporter, Steve Schewel, who personally drafted the city’s policy barring local police from training with Israeli law enforcement in 2018. “Such exchanges do not support the kind of policing we want here in Durham,” the council members sermonized before voting 6–0 to adopt the measure. Even the liberal Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has condemned the “one-sided and biased” policy for “singl[ing] out Israel for criticism.”

Worth noting is that this wasn’t even the council’s loony idea; it came from an anti-Semitic socialist group, Demilitarize Durham2Palestine, which also supports abolishing “racist state violence imposed through prisons [and] borders.”

Another Durham council member, Carl Rist, snidely referred to opponents of a measure condemning Israel’s retaliation as “our Jewish neighbors.” He’s also endorsed Stein for Governor.

In nearby Carrboro, then-Mayor Damon Selis opened a city council meeting by accusing Israel of “indiscriminate bombing” just 10 days after Hamas’ attack. A month later, Selis voted for a resolution demanding an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza—the equivalent of saying Israelis must take it on the chin. He’s since endorsed Stein for Governor.

Recall, too, that ex-Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D) boycotted Israeli Prime Minister’s address to Congress in 2015; he now endorses Stein for Governor.

Restoration News has also uncovered fanatically anti-Israel statements from Stein’s mother, Jane. In 2012, she demanded the U.S. end “military aid to Israel” in a public letter in Raleigh.

In 2016, Stein’s group—Jews for Just Peace NC—declared its “solidarity” with the Jew-hating Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which the ADL has described as an “international campaign aimed at delegitimizing and pressuring Israel . . . [and] Jews who support Israel’s right to exist.”

Tough on Israel

To his credit, Josh Stein has condemned Hamas and pushed for Jewish representation in his increasingly anti-Semitic party. But like all Democrat politicians, he puts partisan politics above the loss of human life. When push comes to shove, Stein will always back Hamas over Israel—because that’s what politically correct Democrats do.
