BREAKING: America’s Top Universities Shill for Hamas

Pro-Hamas student groups, often with university support, are encouraging genocide against Israelis in the name of “decolonization.”

If ever the world needed to learn the lesson that leftism is a mental illness, here it is.

While Hamas terrorists have wrought unimaginable carnage against Israeli women, children, and civilians this week in Gaza, student groups at America’s top universities have rallied to the mass murderers’ defense—and in some cases, gained support from the universities themselves.

A decade ago, these radicals would’ve remained mute about their support for Palestinian terrorists. But today’s leftists believe themselves powerful enough to say what they really believe about “decolonization,” “imperialism,” and Israeli settlements—and we’re seeing the result.

Americans must understand that this is the evil fruit of the anti-Semitic leftism carefully nurtured by the Democrat Party for years. In this article, Restoration News has documented the worst offenders applauding the ongoing genocide against Israeli Jews and the spineless, often sympathetic university leaders who refuse to denounce this act of aggression.

As InfluenceWatch explains, SJP is an anti-Israel group reportedly funded by radical Palestinian groups to support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. On Oct. 7, the day of the attack, the group released a statement undersigned by 83 allied student groups across dozens of universities:

We honor Palestinians who ‘are working on the ground on several axes of the so-called ‘Gaza envelope’ alongside our comrades in blood and arms, and what is coming is greater. Victory or martyrdom.’

. . . The occupation and colonization is ongoing, and thus our people’s freedom will not be attainable without revolution . . . Glory to Palestine, glory to the resistance, and glory to our martyrs.

SJP chapters held rallies for Hamas at Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Butler University, University of Louisville, University of Binghampton, University of Virginia, Michigan State University, and University of Mary Washington.

Harvard University

Over 30 pro-Hamas student groups released a “Joint Statement by Harvard Palestine Solidarity Groups on the Situation in Palestine” (source)

We . . . hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence. . . The apartheid regime is the only one to blame.

. . . The coming days will require a firm stand against colonial retaliation. We call on the Harvard community to take action to stop the ongoing annihilation of Palestinians.

Faculty response: On October 9, Harvard senior leadership led by president Claudine Gay released an equivocating statement about the “pain and deep concern about the events in Israel and Gaza.” “We have no illusion that Harvard alone can readily bridge the widely different views of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” they wrote.

Claudine Gay later condemned Hamas’ “terrorist atrocities” on October 10, but not the pro-Hamas student groups on her campus: “Let me also state, on this matter as on others, that while our students have the right to speak for themselves, no student group — not even 30 student groups — speaks for Harvard University or its leadership.”

Yale University

“Yalies4Palestine stands in unwavering support of the Palestinian people’s right to return to their land and resist over 75 years of colonization” (source)

Palestinians made history this Saturday morning when they broke down the wall which has imprisoned Gaza for 17 years . . . The resistance is the consequence of the longstanding and ongoing Zionist colonization.

. . . After suffering under the settler colonial regime for generations, the Palestinian people are fighting to shake off the grip of the Zionist occupation and reclaim their country and homeland . . . Yalies4Palestine . . . stand in unwavering support of the Palestinian people’s right to resist colonization and return to their land.

On Oct. 7, the day of the attack, Yale professor Zareena Grewal tweeted:

My heart is in my throat. Prayers for Palestinians. Israeli [sic] is a murderous, genocidal settler state and Palestinians have every right to resist through armed struggle, solidarity. #FreePalestine

On Oct. 10, Grewal tweeted:

No government on earth is as genocidal as this settler colonial state

Faculty response: Crickets.

University of California, Berkeley

See Bears for Palestine statement above. From its Instagram account: “We invariably reject Israel’s framing as a victim.”

Faculty response: University officials “are working and meeting with Jewish students and other members of the campus’s Jewish community to provide support and information.” No condemnation of Hamas so far.

University of Virginia

Students for Justice in Palestine chapter statement (source)

Students for Justice in Palestine at UVA unequivocally supports Palestinian liberation and the right of colonized people everywhere to resist the occupation of their land by whatever means they deem necessary . . . the war and genocidal campaign against Palestinians began over 75 years ago.

. . . We stand in solidarity with Palestinian resistance fighters and all oppressed people around the world seeking freedom and a better world. Palestine will be free.

Faculty response: None to speak of.

Dartmouth College

Local Students for Justice in Palestine chapter signed pro-Hamas letter.

Faculty response: President Sian Beilock, a self-described “cognitive scientist who studies why people choke under pressure,” equivocated between Israel and Hamas in an official statement without denouncing the terrorists responsible: “In every conflict, one of the most important roles a university can play is to help us understand it, and to make a space for dialogue and community.”

George Mason University

Statement from Students for Justice in Palestine, GMU chapter (source):

We as Students for Justice in Palestine at George Mason call for a free Palestine, from the river to the sea, and support all forms of resistance which helps [sic] the Palestinian people inch closer to that reality. We call on all those who identify as ‘allies’ to the Palestinian liberation movement to take similar action.

Faculty response: Mum.

Stanford University

Local Students for Justice in Palestine chapter signed pro-Hamas letter. From a student paper op-ed:

As the world witnesses the atrocities committed in Palestine, it becomes increasingly clear that these events are not isolated incidents, but rather part of the protracted struggle against settler-colonial oppression.

. . . Furthermore, while Palestinian resistance is legal under international law, Israel’s breathtakingly violent actions are illegal collective punishment under the Geneva Convention . . . Justice for Palestine is justice for all.

Faculty response: Leadership merely offers “care and support” for students and refuses to condemn Hamas’ terrorism.

City University of New York (CUNY)

Statement from pro-Hamas student groups:

On the morning of October 7, 2023, a wave of resistance swept across occupied Palestine, marked by the declaration of a new operation called ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ led by Mohammed Deif. This act of resistance was prompted by a continuous series of atrocities, but above all, it was a reaction to more than 75 years of occupation and ethnic cleansing. The resistance has shown us that true dignity and strength can be demonstrated in the face of occupying forces, providing a sense of empowerment.

Undersigned by:

  1. Palestine Solidarity Alliance of Hunter College
  2. Students for Justice in Palestine at the City College of New York
  3. Students for Justice in Palestine of Lehman College
  4. Students for Justice in Palestine at Brooklyn College
  5. Students for Justice in Palestine at CUNY Law School
  6. Students for Justice in Palestine at John Jay College
  7. Middle Eastern & North African Society of Baruch College
  8. CUNY for Palestine

Faculty response: CUNY Hunter College president Ann Kirschner thoroughly condemned “the violent attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel,” which “makes the dream of peace ever more distant.” She didn’t comment on the student groups backing Hamas.

Portland State University

Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights statement:

Our hearts are with the brave Palestinian liberators fighting collectively for their homeland and people. Indigenous Palestinians are reclaiming their stolen land and finally breaking free from the siege of Gaza. They have the absolute right to defend themselves by any means necessary, what we are seeing here is revolutionary and an act of liberation.

Faculty response: Silence.

George Washington University

Students for Justice in Palestine chapter held a vigil “for the martyrs of Palestine.”

Faculty response: President Ellen Granberg released a statement that fails to condemn Hamas and praises GWU’s “rich diversity of identities, experiences and opinions.”

Texas Tech

Tweet from Texas Tech professor Jairo I. Funez-Flores, who specializes in “decolonial theory” and intersectionality (source):

Decolonization is about dreaming and fighting for a present and future free of occupied Indigenous territories. It’s about a Free Palestine. It’s about liberation and self-determination. It’s about living with dignity. DECOLONIZATION IS NOT A METAPHOR

Faculty response: None so far.
