Wisconsin’s Far-Left Supreme Court, Activists Meddle in 2024 Election with Ballot Harvesting Drop Boxes

Democrats push illegal ballot drop boxes because they know it’s the only way to defeat Trump in November

Democrats don’t have to control Wisconsin’s legislature to dramatically rewrite its election laws—not with radical justice Janet Protasiewicz in the state supreme court. With the help of partisan lawfare groups and Democrat Gov. Tony Evers, she’s about to poof illegal ballot drop boxes into existence just in time for the 2024 election with one goal: Helping left-wing groups harvest Biden ballots on an unimaginable scale.

Ever since leftists seized control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court in April 2023, Democrats have turned the high court into a fast-track for pushing policies they couldn’t get the democratic way in the legislature. Their newest target are drop boxes for collecting absentee ballots, an essential step for professional ballot harvesting groups since the Left doesn’t trust the U.S. Postal Service to deliver absentee ballots to ballot-counters. Never mind that there is documented evidence these drop boxes are susceptible to fraud.

Recall that in 2022, the conservative-controlled state supreme court found absentee ballot drop boxes in violation of state law when they were used extensively in the 2020 election, paid for largely by an influx of “Zuck bucks” from billionaire donor Mark Zuckerberg.

With the newly elected hyperpartisan justice Janet Protasiewicz, however, the left-wing group Priorities USA is revisiting that decision in arguments starting May 13, and there’s every reason to expect the high court will suddenly “discover” a legal rationale for implementing illegal drop boxes, which were never permitted by state law.

Since Democrats can’t get changes through the Republican-controlled legislature—the appropriate, democratic method for creating law—they unconstitutionally see the court as their alternative.

Election Security Isn’t a Concern for Tony Evers

Absentee ballot fraud isn’t happening in just Connecticut. The Heritage Foundation has documented dozens of criminal convictions of absentee ballot voter fraud in just the last two years across the nation (including Wisconsin).

In June 2021, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) filed a lawsuit on behalf of two voters in Waukesha County. According to WILL, the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) issued unlawful guidance to clerks which encouraged the use of absentee ballot drop boxes in 2020. The WEC even told voters that others could return their ballots for them.

Wisconsin state law 6.84(1) is clear on the rules of absentee voting:

…voting by absentee ballot is a privilege exercised wholly outside the traditional safeguards of the polling place. The legislature finds that the privilege of voting by absentee ballot must be carefully regulated to prevent the potential for fraud or abuse; to prevent overzealous solicitation of absent electors who may prefer not to participate in an election; to prevent undue influence on an absent elector to vote for or against a candidate or to cast a particular vote in a referendum; or other similar abuses.

Wisconsin code 6.855 permits governing bodies of municipalities to designate a site other than the office of the clerk for voters to return absentee ballots, but it also specifies those sites must be staffed by the clerk or authorized employees.

A Waukesha Circuit Judge ruled in favor of WILL in January 2022, holding that the WEC’s guidance on drop boxes violated state law. In July 2022, the WI Supreme Court upheld the decision.

Governor Evers and Wisconsin Democrats are pushing hard to discourage in-person voting and promote ballot harvesting. They know the election outcome will be close and they are willing to create an unsecure election process to help them gain an advantage—even if it is illegal.

Opening the Door to Ballot Fraud

Election inspectors are required to be inside polling stations to oversee in-person voting but they don’t oversee ballot boxes that can be placed anywhere in a city. Wisconsin law states that voting by absentee ballot must be “carefully regulated.” How can an election official guarantee absentee votes are secure if no one monitors them?

In Sept. 2023 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a former city councilwoman and Wanda Geter-Pataky—who is the vice-chair of the Bridgeport Democratic Committee—were seen on video stuffing handfuls of ballots into absentee boxes 15 different times. Geter-Pataky was previously named in another election fraud complaint over four years ago. No action has been taken in that case or any prosecution for the allegations seen on the September videos. As of March 18, Geter-Pataky was still on paid leave with full salary and benefits from her city job pending results from an internal investigation. The Democratic Party didn’t seem to be bothered by her alleged ballot harvesting and reelected her as vice-chair of the local Democratic Committee in March.

A judge ordered a redo of the Bridgeport mayoral primary due to the video evidence of the illegal absentee ballot box stuffing. Then in March, new allegations surfaced related of more illegal activity of absentee ballots related to the redo election and an investigation by the Secretary of State is underway.

This is a developing story—stay tuned for more reporting as the lawsuit unfolds
