These Days, The Kids Are the Adults in the Room

With so many on the left acting like children these days, five middle school girls in West Virginia are the closest resemblance to adults we can find near Washington, DC.

Last month, a federal appeals court overturned a West Virginia law protecting women’s sports. The judges told the girls that they would have to compete against a biological male in a school-sanctioned shot-put competition. Since these “adults” with law degrees appear to be following the lead of some Supreme Court justices who can’t define a woman, it was up to these barely-teenagers to take a brave stand and refuse to compete.

And did the “adult” school administrators affirm these girls for exercising their First Amendment rights? No, the school system promptly suspended them from participating in future events.

Fortunately, a West Virginia judge has since issued an injunction against the suspension and reinstated the girls’ eligibility to compete again. But that’s where this situation gets . . . even weirder. During the hearing, school officials argued that the girls weren’t suspended for protesting, but because of an “unwritten rule” mysteriously implemented four years ago for athletes who “scratch” from an event.

Confused yet? Well, that’s the point. In Joe Biden’s America, you don’t just get in trouble for breaking the law. You have to be an expert at mind-reading to know all the secret handshakes, unwritten rules, and new terms that can erase your daughters from society.

Government Obsessed With Gender Over Biology

Parents better start paying attention, because it’s getting worse. On August 1st, a major rewrite of Title IX rules from Biden’s Department of Education will go into effect. The most noteworthy change in the update: the expansion of sex-based protection status to now include “gender identity.” This will effectively require schools to allow boys to use girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms, as well as participate on girls’ athletic teams based on how they “identify”—not based on their biological sex.

It’s not a typo, either. The leftists at the Department of Education are so obsessed with promoting the transgender ideology, their draft of the new rules uses the term “gender identity” 289 times. The word “transgender” also appears 65 times in the document.

Of course, Congress hasn’t voted to approve any of it. Which probably makes it illegal because it was Congress that passed Title IX into law. As Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti put it: “Federal bureaucrats have no power to rewrite laws passed by the people’s elected representatives.”

But that’s all part of the “unwritten rules” that seem to only apply to the Left’s priorities.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before . . .

Speaking of votes and laws, the West Virginia law that kept boys off of girls’ sports teams did pass through the legislative process . . . until the federal court struck it down. Not surprisingly, the judge who wrote the decision, Toby Heytons, was one of Biden’s early nominees to the federal bench. He seems to know the secret handshake!

So at the end of the day, these five teenagers are standing up to federal judges, the Department of Education, the President of the United States, and their local school board practically all on their own. They need more adults on their side, like the six State Attorneys General that are suing the Department of Education to block the new Title IX rules and prevent the West Virginia situation from becoming a reality for female athletes across the country.

Maybe some of our “leaders” in Washington should take the drive to West Virginia. They might learn a few lessons from the leaders of the future.
