It’s been a little less than two weeks since climate zealot Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, and the stories of his lying have escalated ever since. Whether he inflated his military service, made misleading statements about his 1995 DUI, minimized the Tiananmen Square massacre, or flip-flopped on border security, Walz seems to have a strained relationship with the truth.
He makes the perfect heir for the legacy of Joe Biden, America’s premiere compulsive liar.
Fudging the facts also comes in handy for the Harris-Walz ticket when it comes to pushing climate hysteria. Together, this ticket ranks as—BY FAR—the most radical climate campaign in American history. The mainstream media has dutifully fallen in line, funded by radical foundations and extremist billionaires that help seed corporate newsrooms with crazy climate stories that have little basis in fact.
We will continue to call out the hysterical stories. And, boy do we have a lot of them again this week.
(Don’t miss last week’s column: The Harris-Walz Ticket Promises More Climate Hysteria)
The low temperatures across North America set some new summer records, but the mainstream media has somehow failed to notice. A funny article appeared that demonstrated the impossibility of solar airplanes, a favorite fantasy of climate hysterics. More terrible environmental news for decommissioned wind farm parts. Another renewable energy source has started to melt down. And “environmental justice” groups in California have so far failed to line up behind Kamala Harris.
We also have two good news items this week, as coral reefs continue their explosive growth, and a European country saw a massive outbreak of protesters against green policies.
Let’s get to it.
Mainstream Media Ignores Record Low Summer Temps
The corporate media landscape, funded by “nonprofit” foundations with an agenda to push, set the headlines ablaze several weeks ago with breathless reports that climate scientists had recorded Earth’s “hottest days ever.” There were numerous errors in the reports that invalidated those reports, but they went with them anyway. Making far fewer headlines this week:
Maybe it’s because the records really aren’t going the way of the climate hysterics?
The Impossibility of Solar Airplanes
A physics professor published an article in Wired magazine recently proving that powering a passenger plane by solar power could never happen. He goes into great detail with the math involved, but the bottom line—conversion of solar energy could never possibly produce the power required by a passenger liner’s jet engines. It’s a fun read, and it debunks one of the pie-in-the-sky dreams of environmentalists.
“Seriously, This Sucks”
This could be the quote for almost every real-world consequence of green energy, but it happens to be the statement of someone who has to live with the waste products of deactivated wind mills. When a green energy company decided to upgrade its wind mills in southern Minnesota with longer blades, they tried to recycle the old ones. The problem? The recycling company went out of business. A new company took over, but the expense in transporting the old blades to a recycling facility proved prohibitive. So there those blades sit, in an empty lot, next to the home of a local resident named Darcy Richardson:
“After six months we were like ‘C’mon guys, what’s going on,’” said Richardson, once a master gardener. “After a year we were like ‘Seriously, this sucks.’”
Darcy Richarson shows an aerial map view of the pile of wind turbine parts along almost the entire west border of her property in Grand Meadow, Minn. Richardson worries about children getting hurt and rodents and animals nesting in the large empty cavities. (Renée Jones Schneider/Star Tribune)
The mess has torn this little town apart, and shows no sign of reaching a resolution any time soon.
Hydrogen Powered Cars: As Convenient As EVs
Did you know carmakers had begun producing hydrogen powered vehicles for consumers? Apparently the Toyota Mirai runs on hydrogen. In theory, the idea of releasing energy by splitting hydrogen gas atoms and producing mostly water molecules as emissions has great potential. Unfortunately, the practicality of this process has not materialized, despite decades of research. Now, those who bought the vehicles have launched a class-action lawsuit for misleading sales pitches on the convenience of these experimental vehicles:
“It’s a great car,” he said. “My background is an engineer, I’m a huge automotive fan, and I felt the the world was finally catching up with what we have to do” to cut greenhouse gases.
Then reality crashed in.
He soon learned that hydrogen refueling stations are scarce and reliably unreliable. He learned that apps to identify broken stations hand out bad information. He learned that the state of California, which is funding the station buildout, is far behind schedule — 200 stations were supposed to be up and running by 2025, but only 54 exist. And since [he] bought his car, the price of hydrogen has more than doubled, currently the equivalent of $15 a gallon of gasoline.
Oops.
Maybe we should just concentrate on making existing technology more efficient instead of relying on scientific advances that don’t exist? Just a thought.
California Climate Groups Hesitate to Endorse Kamala
Imagine the uncomfortable conversations in Kamala land when they realize one of her core radical constituencies—environmental nutjobs—has so far failed to jump on her bandwagon. That seems to be the case with California “environmental justice” groups, which so far have expressed hesitancy about supporting her. Politico reports:
“It was the best move to get Biden out of this election, however there are remaining issues with the history that Kamala has, especially in California,” said Ana Gonzalez, executive director of the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice, a Southern California-based group that as a 501(c)3 nonprofit can’t make official endorsements.
While the national groups have all lined up for the Harris-Walz ticket, groups in Kamala’s home state have expressed reservations about her dedication to the cause. Apparently, those who believe climate justice intersects with defunding the police remain unsatisfied with her dedication to rooting out systemic racism, or something:
But she also cited Harris’ time as a prosecutor that some justice reform advocates say perpetuated the mass incarceration of Black and brown people in the early 2000s.
“Police brutality aligns with environmental justice issues, because it’s mostly our communities of color and the folks that are facing poverty that are more targeted,” she said. “And so we didn’t see her as a champion to that end.”
The reality of who Kamala Harris actually is has started to collide with the idea of who the radicals want her to be, and it’s left them less than enthusiastic about her.
Now for some good news . . .
Coral Growth Is Exploding
Another week, another story of fast coral growth in the Great Barrier Reef getting completely ignored by the mainstream media. The same week the UK’s Guardian hysterically reported of the “existential threat” to coral reefs by rising ocean temperatures, the Australian government published a report detailing the third year in a row of explosive coral growth on the reef. This subverts the panic caused by a bleaching event a decade ago that climate scientists insisted proved the irreversible damage caused by global boiling. Which probably explains why the mainstream media chose not to cover it. The Great Barrier Reef has produced higher coral coverage than it has seen in 40 years, if anyone would care to look.
Huge Green Energy Protest in Serbia
A planned lithium mine in Serbia has led to gigantic protests in the streets:
Apparently Serbians aren’t too keen on the environmental destruction promised by these dirty mines. Protests have gone on for weeks:
