POLL: Bidenflation Has Dropped Wisconsin Home Affordability to All-Time Low

As Bidenomics continues to ravage the American People, Wisconsinites are facing the worst housing market on record.

In Joe Biden’s America, families earning median incomes are finding it increasingly difficult to afford homes, a situation that is the direct result of Bidenomics.

Fully 65 percent of Wisconsinites blame Biden-Harris for inflating home prices out of their reach, according to a recent poll by Steve Cortes’s League of American Workers. Another 54 percent reported that Bidenomics is a failure.

The hard reality is that for most Wisconsin families rampant inflation caused by the Biden-Harris’ out-of-control government spending means homeownership could remain out of reach for years to come. In fact, the housing market in Wisconsin has never been worse according to the Wisconsin Realtors Association, which began tracking home affordability metrics in 2009.

“This is a tough environment for buyers given the high mortgage rates and limited supply of available homes on the market. We have tracked Wisconsin’s affordability level since 2009, and unfortunately affordability hit its all-time low point in May,” said Tom Larson, president and CEO of the Wisconsin Realtors Association.

This isn’t a new issue for Americans, as home affordability has remained very low under President Joe Biden due to various policies affecting all aspects of homeownership. Overall, inflation has remained at record highs while real wages have declined.

The unfortunate reality is that even if housing affordability improved, many Americans would still struggle to afford basic necessities like food and gas—leaving them unable to become homeowners.

Biden & Harris: Killing the American Dream

“Bidenomics” has shattered the American dream, leaving the costs of everything Americans need at inflated levels.

Since Biden and Harris took office, median home prices have surged by over 27 percent while interest rates have climbed from 2.8 to 7.2 percent. As a result, the monthly mortgage payment for a median-priced home has more than doubled, increasing from $979 to $2,075.

On average, families are now spending over $13,000 more per year for the same house.

Meanwhile, Biden is funneling billions of dollars into Ukraine and shutting down reliable energy sources—actions that are driving inflation.

Excessive government spending has put Americans in a difficult position due to the trillions of dollars created by the Federal Reserve for the government. Rather than reclaiming these funds, the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to curb spending, but unfortunately, this has devastated American wallets—something radical leftists ignore entirely.

Another factor contributing to the low affordability of homes is the limited number of new houses available on the market.

In 2019, Joe Biden significantly impacted the construction industry by doubling the tax on imported softwood lumber from Canada, increasing it from an average of 8.99 to 17.9 percent. Since softwood lumber is essential for building homes, this substantial tax hike hindered efforts to expand housing supply.

At that time, lumber costs were already elevated due to the coronavirus pandemic. The ongoing lag in construction continues to affect the housing market, leaving many Americans unable to afford a home.

Not Just Housing

Biden’s policies, which would be perpetuated by Harris if elected, are undermining the nation.

It is crucial to prioritize America’s interests and address the economic challenges at home, rather than spending taxpayer dollars on green energy projects and contributing billions to foreign conflicts in which we should have no direct involvement.
