EXCLUSIVE: Introducing National Voter Registration Sunday
On September 15, faith-based groups are calling on all Christians to register to vote like their freedom depends on it—because it does
Christians across America are waking up and rallying to defend their right to worship God freely with a major push to get Evangelicals and Catholics signed up to vote this November.
A nonpartisan coalition of leading faith-based groups have assembled to declare a new holiday, National Voter Registration Sunday, on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024.
This ecumenical, grassroots movement has a single goal: Inspire believers to celebrate their rights and freedoms under God as biblical citizens.
While many Christians are wary of bringing politics into the church, National Voter Registration Sunday is all about bringing their biblical values to bear on a key aspect of our lives: Citizenship. National Voter Registration Sunday is all about joining Evangelical and Catholic Christians together to think biblically—and act faithfully according to those values.
The founding members of National Voter Registration Sunday include Catholic Vote, Faith Wins, Susan B. Anthony List, American Principles Project, American Majority, and the Foundation for the Restoration of America.
The coalition also publishes nonpartisan guides explaining why it’s important for Christians to sign up to vote for Catholics (click here) and Evangelicals (click here).
“There is no doubt to any committed, biblical Christian in America that our nation is in trouble and everything we care about is at stake,” Faith Wins president and founder Chad Connelly told Restoration News. “Faith Wins is working in over a dozen states to maximize the Evangelical impact in the fall elections at the local, state and national levels so that America can remain the beacon of light and hope the world over.”
"The Catholic Church teaches that every Catholic has a moral obligation to vote. We cannot afford to be passive citizens given the gravity of the issues, and the stakes for our country,” said Brian Burch, president of Catholic Vote. “Voting is not merely a duty, but a privilege granted to us and preserved by the sacrifices of previous generations. If every Catholic was registered to vote, and consistently voted, Catholics alone could bring about a transformation of this country that we love."
The coalition plans to reach as many Christians as possible each week between now and Sunday, Sept. 15, which it aims to transform into the largest single voter registration drive in the nation.
