BREAKING: Is Apple Meddling in Wisconsin’s 2024 Election?

Siri, the tech giant’s famous digital assistant, is peddling misinformation to Republican voters in Wisconsin

Watch out, iPhone users—Siri may be feeding you election misinformation.

New reports from a former senior staffer to retired Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) show that Apple’s voice-enabled digital assistant, Siri, is giving Wisconsin Republican voters the wrong date for the upcoming April 2 primary, telling them instead that it’s on April 3.

Suspiciously, Siri is simultaneously giving voters the correct date of the Democratic primary, also on April 2. Tech error or election interference?

A few years ago this would’ve been widely seen as a minor discrepancy and nothing more. But recall that federal prosecutors sentenced a pro-Trump social media troll with 58,000 followers—Douglass Mackey—to 7 months in prison for posting a meme that jokingly encouraged Hillary Clinton voters to vote by text message in 2016, something obviously not allowed in any state.

“Avoid the line. Vote from home,” the meme stated. “Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925. Vote for Hillary and be a part of history.”

Biden prosecutors put a man in prison for an election joke. Who expects them to pursue Apple for feeding voters genuine election misinformation?

Big Tech on the Move

Jesse Garza, who previously served as Rep. Duffy’s field director until he retired in 2019, was the first to identify the Siri discrepancy while dining with a friend who asked if the date provided by Siri was correct.

“We rely more and more on technology to give us information,” Garza told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “The average person is not going to question it, especially if your brain is not focused on an election on this day.”

The incorrect results provided a prompt to “get the latest on primaries,” which linked users to the Associated Press. The correct date was listed when the link was clicked.

This story is still developing and will be updated as new information comes to light.
