Biden’s Latest Taxpayer-Funded Slush Fund to Interfere in Elections
…All while the federal government grows ever bigger and more intrusive
The Democrats’ slush fund for securing young voters’ support keeps getting bigger and bigger. In the latest use of middle class money to bribe President Joe Biden’s base, Biden has requested a whopping $8 billion to fund an army of environmental activists called the American Climate Corps.
The White House and their activist allies compare it to FDR’s New Deal work program, the Civilian Conservation Corps. Instead of building bridges and highways and helping vulnerable Americans, however, it hires and trains 20,000 activists for careers in promoting “equity and environmental justice.” You know, the standard leftist wish list of fluffy ideas that just empty everyone’s wallets.
Two years ago, the Biden administration tried to bribe young voters by forgiving $400 billion in student loans. The U.S. Supreme Court got in the way, so Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris announced $6 billion in student loan debt cancellations for public service workers on top of the recent SAVE plan initiative that could end up costing $474 billion over the next decade—all without a vote in Congress.
And it gets worse, because the 2024 elections are important. Your inflation-reduced paycheck is also going to subsidize college students for taxpayer-funded positions conducting voter registration drives and other get-out-the-vote activities on their campuses through Federal Work-Study funding. The Biden Department of Education endorsed this scheme earlier this year that will use taxpayer dollars originally intended to help students pay for education costs through part-time tutoring work and other similar jobs.
Okay, so now you know how expensive it is to bribe people who get Women’s Studies and Basket Weaving degrees to vote for Democrats. Did you also know that none of this is being done in the light of a public debate? Congress never authorized the Climate Corps and some of these other programs, which means there wasn’t even an attempt to get your representatives and senators on board, to have a legitimate debate about these programs. Biden is doing all of this through executive orders because, among other reasons, Democrats had to remove Climate Corps provisions from a climate bill because legislators thought it was too expensive.
Now, most Americans support good environmental stewardship. Keeping our air, water, and natural areas clean is a noble goal. However, the far-left is more committed to raising your taxes and increasing your cost-of-living than genuinely safeguarding the planet. For a few examples:
- Gas stoves: Last year, leftist nut Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Biden-appointed Consumer Product Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka, Jr. promoted junk studies to push for bans on gas stoves. Fortunately, public backlash forced a major backtrack.
- ESG reporting mandates: Also last year, the Securities and Exchange Commission developed new rules that would require Mom and Pop businesses in the supply chain to heavily invest resources in reporting emissions data to fulfill “environment, social, and governance” (ESG) disclosures. Again, public backlash, especially among small businesses, successfully forced the SEC to pare back this new rule.
- Electric vehicles: Just recently, the Biden Administration finalized new EPA rules that will effectively make half of the vehicles sold in America electric-powered. And if you don’t want an electric car because you’ll be on the hook for $50,000 in additional upkeep expenses compared to a gas powered vehicle—too bad.
With stoves, cars, and small businesses already in their sights, it’s hard to expect an agenda from the Climate Corps that will improve the lives of everyday Americans. And while you’re paying 20 percent more just putting groceries on your table, it’s another program paying to make sure teens with purple hair keep Big Guy Joe and Democrats in power—paid with taxpayer money.
You’d think that would be illegal.
